Training with BFT Automation
Bespoke Technical Training in Swindon & Stockport
BFT Automation offers a range of bespoke training courses covering everything from gate automation to access control at our offices in Swindon and Stockport. We run customised training courses based on our customers’ requirements. We do not run standardised training as we recognise that everyone’s requirements are different. This means you will only get training that is relevant to you, whether you are an apprentice or an installer with many years of experience.
We can offer technical training on our gate automation products or entire product ranges. Find out more about our training course options below, including detail on specific topic areas and what can be covered in each course. Simply get in touch with us directly and we will organise the training around your specific requirements.

Technical training delivered by experts
All of our training is conducted by BFT’s own technical staff who have years of training and experience, working with access control, gate automation, HVM’s and more. This means that our skilled trainers can offer both practical training and expert advice.
All our training sessions are conducted in small groups, this means that you will get the individual attention that you need, as well as the opportunity to have open discussions and ask questions. The training typically consists of two parts, the theory, in presentation format, followed by practical training. We have working test models set-up in our dedicated training area, so that you can get hands-on practice on the products.
Access control courses
Access control is an integral part of security for any business. Our Access control courses provide installers with the knowledge and hands-on-experience necessary to provide a quick and safe installation every time.
Bespoke Technical Training topics
BFT Automation have developed a range of tailored courses led by experts across a wide range of areas including:

Gate Automation Training Courses
Our gate automation training courses are designed to guide installers through the process of installing automated gates and barriers, ensuring that safety is taken into consideration every step of the way.
Wiring motors to a gate system
BFT have designed all of our control boards to be colour coded terminals, making it easier to wire motors to the control board. Using these Colour coded terminals, we will walk you through the steps to wire an automated gate system.
Calculating gate geometry
This training will focus on an incredibly important part of above ground ram operator installations, in order to ensure that the motor will work for years to come. Geometry will be explained in more detail.
Wiring Photocells & Safety edges
Safety is at the heart of every gate automation system. In this training, we will show the correct procedure for installing and wiring, while giving you experience using the different safety functions found within the logic menus.
Programming control panels
This advanced training will go into more detail on all of the vast amount of parameter and logic features available on the control board and capabilities for a gate system. This will allow you to truly understand the best way to set up each system for its purpose.
Calibrating motors
During the calibrating motors course you will be shown the correct way to set up motors from underground to overground, with limit switches, encoders and more.
Comprehensive Access Control Training From BFT
All training is done on a step by step basis on how to set up a complete system. From installing the motors to setting the safety for the specifics of the system being installed and also any other accessories that may be connected onto the system i.e. traffic lights, maglocks etc.
