BFT UK Training Academy Courses | Introductory Training
BFT UK Training Academy offers different training levels Advanced engineers' courses and Specialist Training which can be customised to match your company and employee requirements, allowing you to maximise your learning experience. BFT training utilises classroom learning alongside hands-on practical exercises, ensuring you have a comprehensive knowledge at the end of the course.
BFT UK Training Academy Level 1 - Introduction to automation & products
Our Level 1 course is designed to introduce and explain the key elements of gate automation,allowing you to familiarise yourself with the range of BFT products. Our training courses will build on your knowledge of gate automation, as well as providing an understanding of the application of our product range.
These courses can be adapted to focus on your company’s specific needs so that the training is relevant to you. If you require customised training, please choose from the selection of options below. We can then develop the training as required. Please choose a maximum of 4 options per training session. Please note there is a maximum limit of 6 delegates per session.

Electronics training | ||
An introduction to circuits | Level 1 | In this course you will learn to be able to identify a circuit in parallel/series and understand terminology like N/O N/C. This course is ideal for those new to circuitry who want a firm grasp of the basic skills. |
Understanding AC/ DC voltage operators | Level 1 | Attendees will learn the basics of AC / DC voltages and how they relate to the different motor types. The course covers the pros and cons of using operators of each voltage type, as well as how to select the best option based on the project requirements. |
Product training | ||
A guide to Swing gate operators | Level 1 | This course provides a comprehensive overview of the range of swing gate operators from BFT. At the end of this training, you will have a clear understanding of the product families within each range and their applications allowing you to confidently choose the best operator for the project. |
A guide to Slide gate operators | Level 1 | This course provides a comprehensive overview of the family of slide gate operators from BFT. At the end of this training, you will have a clear understanding of the various motors including high speed operators and their applications, allowing you to confidently choose the best operator for the project. |
A guide to automatic barriers | Level 1 | This course provides a comprehensive overview of the range of automatic barriers from BFT. At the end of this training, you will have a clear understanding of the types of barriers available and their capabilities. You will also learn about the different boom arm types and the accessories including light kits and barrier skirts. The course also covers the use of accessories such as loop detectors |
Accessories training | ||
How relays work | Level 1 | Learn basic relay operations including how to use these in application. The training also provides an understanding of the full range of products available. At the end of this course attendees will understand how relays work and when and where they are best used. |
An introduction to safety edges | Level 1 | This course provides an introduction to safety edges. During the training you will learn about how safety edges work and their application. It will cover the common terminology and cover the range of products available |
Using induction loops | Level 1 | Attendees will learn about induction loops, how they work, how they are most commonly used and the terminology. At the end of this course attendees will have a working knowledge of dual and single channel loop detectors and other induction loop technology, as well as the full range of products available. |
Understanding photocell operations | Level 1 | This course covers a comprehensive overview of photocell operations, including how they work and when they should be used. The training also provides an overview of the full range of BFT photocell types including wired and wireless. |
Programming training | ||
Basic programming and set-up | Level 1 | This training provides an overview of basic system set-up including understanding Quick Start guides. This is designed for engineers who are looking to improve their installation knowledge and skill set. |
Command inputs | Level 1 | Attendees will learn about BFT control panels and command inputs. The training covers the importance of having volt free contact from any command input. At the end of this training attendees will have a comprehensive understanding of BFT control panels. |
Basic fault finding | Level 1 | Basic fault-finding training, attendees will learn how to diagnose common faults. This course will enable Engineers to find faults quickly and easily with the aid of a basic meter. |
