At BFT Automation we understand that office security is integral to any business, in order to make sure that only authorised personnel are granted access. This is why installers recommend our automation products, as demonstrated in this case study for Tesco Mobile.
Managing Access Control
Tesco Mobile’s Head Office currently resides in a busy office block in Slough that is shared by numerous businesses and their employees. To ensure that only Tesco staff and visitors access their office’s, Tesco Mobile were looking for a solution that easily manages the flow of individuals entering and exiting their premises.
Installation Requirements
The ideal solution would allow staff and guests easy access beyond the reception area while preventing other people from accessing the area without authorisation. As an extra provision, Tesco required a second level of security after the reception area to ensure only authorised personnel had access to the Tesco’s main office area.

Access Control Solution
The solution was to install pedestrian speed gates to manage the flow of people, opting for One Tech Ltd to undertake the installation project.
BFT Automation supplied One Tech Ltd with PG300 pedestrian speed gates, for the main entrance BFT supplied a 900mm lane/600mm lane combination and and 900mm standalone lanes for the two side entrances. The two-lane system were placed in the main reception area, whilst the two single-lane speed gates were located directly into the Tesco office at two different points, to provide an additional layer of security.
This was a custom installation project which required the pedestrian speed gates to be positioned in the centre of the reception area. The cables were fitted under the flooring and raised walkways to reach from the edge of the room to the speed gates in the centre. A special fitted glass linked the speed gates to the walls, cutting off other access points and making the speed gates the only entry and exit point. One Tech Ltd installed a standard width lane and a wider speed lane for improved access which also accommodates wheelchair users.
The PG300 gates were fitted with double height glass panels made with a safe transparent tempered glass. The addition of a swipe card system also allowed members of staff to enter or exit the premises freely.
